About Us

Our Mission

Infogene's business is to research, develop, manufacture and market new tests and services for the early detection of cancer using non-invasive methods.

Our Skills

KNOW-HOW

Infogene has a highly qualified technical staff in genetics, molecular virology and oncology, with more than 15 years of experience in the field of molecular cancer research. The team consists of researchers with PhDs in genetics and molecular virology and technicians with degrees and masters in life sciences (biochemistry and pharmaceutical biotechnology). Infogene is nationally and internationally one of the most competent laboratories for the performance of molecular tests for the detection and genotyping of human papillomavirus (HPV) and other sexually transmitted diseases, as well as for the development of research projects, from project planning to the laboratory performance and data processing.

TECHNOLOGY

Our laboratory applies the most advanced technologies for molecular diagnosis, such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR), quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), digital PCR, DNA arrays, and DNA sequencing.

QUALITY

Infogene periodically participates in external quality assessment programs (EHEQAS, ICOVEQAS and PNAEQ SARS-CoV-2). With regard to HPV detection/genotyping services, the results obtained have always been excellent. Infogene is therefore a laboratory of excellence at the European level. In 2015, Infogene began to be externally audited by SGS and, in 2018, renewed its certification and transitioned to the new NP EN ISO 9001:2015 standard for the following activities: (i) Research and development in early cancer detection, (ii) Wholesale distribution of medical devices, and (iii) Provision of early cancer detection services through molecular biology. The next focus was the integration of the NP EN ISO 13485:2017 standard into the Quality Management System (QMS), which took place in 2021 through APCER, covering another company activity: the manufacture of medical devices. Thus, Infogene’s QMS currently complies with the requirements of the NP EN ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 standards for the activities of research and development in early cancer detection, manufacture and wholesale distribution of medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices, and the provision of early cancer detection services through molecular biology. Infogene is licensed by the Health Regulatory Authority (ERS) to operate as a laboratory in the areas of clinical pathology and clinical analyses – molecular pathology (excluding human genetics), under Operating License No. 25735/2025, reinforcing its commitment to compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
