Teste da Mulher

‘O teste da mulher’ (in english, The woman's test) is an innovative service that includes a kit for cervicovaginal fluid collection or self-collection for subsequent detection of human papillomavirus (HPV) with high oncogenic risk, the main cause of cervical cancer.

PVP: 55€

The kit consists of:

  1. Validated device for sample collection or self-collection of cervicovaginal fluid,
  2. Tubes to store the sample at room temperature,
  3. Prepaid envelope for shipping the sample to the laboratory,
  4. Instructions for sample collection,
  5. Requisition form.

The kit has CE marking. Its retail sales is authorized in Portugal by Infarmed.

1. Remove the device from the plastic packaging.,

2. The collection/self-collection device is used to obtain a vaginal secretion sample.

3. After sampling, the white tip of the device is detached from the blue handle and placed in the storage tube.

4. The blue handle is discarded.

5. The tube is sent to the laboratory in the RSF envelope, along with the service form.

The analysis detects high-risk HPV types (HPVs 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 e 68), and the test report will be delivered within a maximum of 3 working days after the sample is received by the laboratory.

NEGATIVE Result

A negative test result means that the 5-year risk of developing cervical cancer is minimal, so short-term follow-up is not necessary. However, you must regularly repeat ‘O Teste da Mulher’, as HPV is transmitted through sexual contact.

POSITIVE Result

It is important to clarify that infection with high-risk HPV does not necessarily mean that you already have cell lesions or cervical cancer. Most infections are cleared spontaneously by the immune system.

If the test is positive, it indicates a high-risk HPV infection, so it is advisable to see a gynecologist for a complete evaluation.

Oncoalert (temporarily unavailable)

Oncoalert is an innovative test, performed using a blood or stool sample, that can serve as a warning signal and represent the first step toward the early detection of colorectal cancer. This examination is able to identify, in plasma or stool samples, genetic markers characteristic of this type of cancer.

To perform the Oncoalert stool test, you can purchase the service online by simply clicking the [buy] button below and filling in the required information. You will receive a self-collection kit at home, the price of which already includes the transport of the sample to Infogene’s laboratory.

To perform the Oncoalert blood test, the collection must be carried out at our laboratory or at one of our partner Clinical Analysis Laboratories, available in various locations across the country. To schedule an appointment, please contact us through the various means indicated in the Contacts section of our website, or contact one of our partners directly.

PVP: 149€

Early in their development, colorectal tumors release genetic material, namely DNA, into the bloodstream. The Oncoalert service was developed to detect this tumor-derived DNA. If the marker is detected in your blood sample, it means that there is an increased chance of developing colorectal cancer. In this case, you should undergo a colonoscopy to confirm the diagnosis and initiate treatment.

Kit Oncoalert

The stool sample collection kit includes:

  • 1. Device for collecting a stool sample,
  • 2. Instructions for use,
  • 3. Disposable gloves,
  • 4. Collection paper,
  • 5. Plastic spatula,
  • 6. Tube with deodorizing preservation solution,
  • 7. Prepaid envelope for sending the sample to the laboratory.
Instruções Oncoalert

1. Remove the collection device from the packaging and check that the kit is complete.

2. Place the collection paper over the toilet bowl, making sure it is properly positioned to prevent contact with water. Defecate directly onto the collection paper.

3. Use the spatula to collect a stool sample and place it inside the preservation tube. Close the cap tightly and ensure there are no leaks. Discard the collection paper along with any remaining waste.

4. Send the tube to the laboratory using the RSF envelope, together with the service request form.

NEGATIVE result

A negative result guarantees with 99% certainty that you do not have colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer develops spontaneously and progresses over 10 to 15 years. Therefore, you should have regular screening, regardless of the method you choose for it.

POSITIVE result

A positive result means that you most likely have a change in the colon. To confirm the positive result, your doctor will recommend that you subsequently undergo a colonoscopy to obtain a definitive diagnosis. Please follow this recommendation.
